Zadar Airport to the Old Town: Bus, Bolt/Uber or Private Transfer

Published October 11, 2026

Zadar Airport is only about 15–20 minutes by car from the city, but the best option depends on when you land, how many of you there are and how much luggage you carry. Here is our local team’s honest comparison – including when the cheapest option is the right one.

Quick answer

Travelling light during the day? The €5 shuttle bus or a Bolt/Uber ride (around €25) is great value. Landing late at night or early in the morning, with children or lots of luggage? Book a private transfer (€40 per vehicle) – your driver waits for you even if your flight is delayed.

Shuttle bus: €5 to the Old Town peninsula

The airport shuttle bus connects Zadar Airport with the main bus station, Gaženica ferry port and the Old Town peninsula. A one-way ticket costs €5.

It is the cheapest way into town, but it only goes to these stops – not to your accommodation. If you are staying outside the Old Town or carrying heavy luggage, you will still need a taxi or a walk from the stop. Check the current timetable before you travel.

Bolt and Uber: around €25

Bolt and Uber both work in Zadar. A ride from the airport into town usually costs around €25, depending on demand in the app. Things to know:

  • Early in the morning and late at night there are often no drivers nearby.
  • Drivers can decline or cancel a ride, and prices go up when demand is high.
  • A standard car has limited space for a big group with lots of luggage.

If you land during the day and travel light, Bolt or Uber is a good choice.

When a private transfer is worth it

Our private transfer costs €40 for the whole vehicle – not per person – at a fixed price agreed in advance. It is the reliable choice when the apps and the bus let you down:

  • Your driver waits for you late at night and early in the morning, when there are often no Bolt or Uber drivers.
  • We follow your flight – if it is delayed, your driver adjusts the pickup time.
  • Door to door: straight to your hotel or apartment, no dragging suitcases.
  • Fixed price: no surge pricing in peak season.
  • We also drive from Zadar across Croatia – to Novalja (Zrće), Split, Dubrovnik or wherever you need to go.
